If you are living outside of the United States you may contact and assess your local government if such schools exist. After enrolling in the school, you may now select on which type of massage therapy will you take focus into. There are wide selections that you can take like sports massage, medical massage, pediatric massage, geriatric massage, reflexology and acupressure just to name a few. The classes take about 500 hours and be sure to take and complete them as the board which regulates and issues massage therapy license checks if you have completed the full hours of the program.

After completing the course, you can now take the examinations being offered by your state if there are any which is being supported by your current location. For you to become licensed, you have to follow certain standards which will be set by the state where you are willing to take your exam. There are also two types of the said certification. The exams for the massage therapy license are comprised of different subjects. These are the basic knowledge of the human anatomy and physiology, details of the human kinesiology, disease processes, assessment of the therapeutic massage, application of the therapeutic massage and the legal standards, ethics and business managements associated with the practice.

The exams consist of multiple choice questions which will be supervised by the board for your massage therapy license.
